It has recently emerged that Quantum Break will leave the Xbox Game Pass library by April 15, which took quite a few people by surprise. Releasing games from the subscription service’s catalog is standard procedure, but the same cannot be said for first-party exclusives. Microsoftdid, however, provide an explanation for Quantum Break in particular.
In a statement released to Xbox Dynasty, Microsoft confirmed that Remedy Entertainment’s sci-fi shooter is leaving Xbox Game Pass due to “licensing issues”. The publisher did not clarify what exactly are these licensing issuesbut it’s worth noting that it’s not exactly the first time a first-party title has had to leave the Game Pass catalog for the same reason: Forza games too they have been removed from the service catalog due to licensing issues.
That said, Microsoft has confirmed that it is working behind the scenes to fix these issues and that, thanks to ongoing negotiations, Quantum Break will be returning to Xbox Game Pass. How long that will take remains to be seen, but subscribers can at least rest assured that Remedy’s shooter isn’t about to say goodbye permanently.
