Formula 1 is preparing to face a month of pause due to the cancellation of the Chinese Grand Prix. So the next round will be held from 28 to 30 April in Baku: the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Pirelli has formalized the compounds that it will make available to the teams and riders not only in Baku, but also at the subsequent rounds, namely the Miami Grand Prix and the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola.
Here are the compounds for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix to be held in Baku from 38 to 30 April. Teams and riders will be able to use the softest compounds in the Pirelli range:
Pirelli PZero White Hard C3
Pirelli PZero Medium Yellow C4
Pirelli PZero Soft Red C5
The selection of compounds will be the softest in the Pirelli range, which is well suited to the tight corners of the city center combined with the fast straights with peaks of 340km/h. The most frequent strategy for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix is a single stop, although in 2022 some teams have decided to make a second pitstop taking advantage of a virtual safety car before the end of the race.
This is the choice of compounds for the second edition of the Miami Grand Prix. This is the median choice compared to the 2023 range made by the Italian manufacturer that is the sole supplier of Formula 1 tyres.
Pirelli PZero White Hard C2
Pirelli PZero Yellow Medium C3
Pirelli PZero Red Soft C4
The race on the street circuit can also be completed in a single stop, despite the two-stop strategy being faster in the simulations, as demonstrated last year thanks to the good handling of the Mediums which several riders fitted as first choice. In Florida, the variability of weather conditions will be a factor to take into consideration, both for the possibility of rain and for the wind.
For the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, which will also be held this year at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari racetrack in Imola, these will be the compounds used. The choice fell on the three softest compounds made by Pirelli for this season of the world champion Circus.
Pirelli PZero White Hard C3
Pirelli PZero Yellow Medium C4
Pirelli PZero Red Soft C5
This choice is one degree softer than the one made last season. The low tire degradation recorded in 2022 led Pirelli to favor this choice. It should also be underlined that Imola is the track that will host the new qualifying format for the first time, with the single-seaters having only Hard sets available in Q1, only Medium sets in Q2 and only Softs in Q3.
