After the success of The Last of Us series on HBO and the confirmation of a second season, speculation about what will happen to the events inspired by the second video game has not been long in appearing. It is known that there is a very important event and those who are aware of it wonder how it will be handled in the series, but if we must be sure of something, it is that it will not take another direction.
Pedro Pascal is not afraid that the series will follow the events of The Last of Us: Part II
During an interview with Esquire, Pedro Pascal referred to the future of HBO’s The Last of Us series and what will happen in the second or subsequent seasons, it must be taken into account that the production has indicated that the story of the second game is very big to cover in a single season so there could be at least a third.
That being said, it was confirmed that the actor who plays Joel has not played The Last of Us: Part II so in theory he has no knowledge of the events of this sequel. Without going into spoilers, Pedro Pascal was asked about it and replied: “it wouldn’t make sense to follow the first game so faithfully only to veer severely off track. So, yes, that’s my honest answer.”

Craig Mazin leaves open the possibility of a change regarding The Last of Us: Part II
The interview also includes some statements by Craig Mazin, director of the HBO series, who referred to the issue and left a small possibility that things will change: “This should be pretty obvious to anyone by now, but I’m not afraid of killing off characters. The important thing to keep in mind is that neither Neil Druckmann nor I feel limited by the source material.”
In case you missed it: Actress would love The Last of Us spin-off about Kathleen; fanboys bother her
From the above it can be deduced that the production knows the weight of the story of The Last of Us: Part II but they also recognize that it is a TV production and the importance of the image of Pedro Pascal. Perhaps the possibility of change is not in the essence, but in the order of events.
