The world champion was the author of a perfect Sprint race. He revealed how important it is to become more familiar with the new format
April 16, 2023
Per I’m sorry Bagnaia came the second victory out of three Sprint races disputed. For now the average is excellent, and this has been a perfect race: he almost immediately regained the lead of the race and from there he started hammering on the 2.03 basso, a pace that the other 21 riders on the track were unable to keep up. So the victory came solo and satisfaction at the end of the race is normal even if, Pecco is the first to know, now you don’t have to lower the voltage that tomorrow is the long race.
This is Bagnaia’s analysis on Sky…
“There wasn’t much grip and it was difficult under braking, but at one point I saw that I was taking the lead and tried to go. We worked well all weekend. This morning, given the pace, I was sure we’d be fast. but this was the Sprint, let’s wait for tomorrow”
Then he explained how he improved…
“We’ve found a balance with the new programme. We have to leave the last 20 minutes of P2 for time attacks and the first 40 minutes are used to find the set-up. Today we managed to be the fastest and this also helps us for tomorrow’s race”
About tomorrow’s race…
“It will be different, with the temperatures that seem to drop, I hope so, you won’t be able to come in from the first lap and push right away. At the start it will be important not to waste energy, but today’s race didn’t tire me, it was just very hot”
As far as qualifying has aroused much interest what happened in Q2 between Pecco and Alex Marquez: the words of the Spanish and those of the sample, which they explain what happened, find them here.
