The former president of Inter, Massimo Moratti, has also released some statements on Inzaghi’s Inter progress in the Champions League
During an interview with 90min.com, the former president of Inter, Massimo Moratti, also released some statements on Inzaghi’s Inter career in the Champions League:
The first curiosity concerns the transfer of Ronaldo “Il Fenomeno” from Barcelona to Inter in the summer of 1997. Can you tell us how the negotiations came about? How did you feel when you saw Ronaldo “Il Fenomeno” play for the first time?
—
“It arose from the fact that I knew he had problems with Barcelona, then I waited for him to decide and in the end I took him on. For us it was a great satisfaction first of all because we were able to bring him to Italy and then the pleasure of football to face a player who at the time was the strongest to have come to Italy”.
Was there a moment when you thought about stopping? How difficult was it for you to leave Inter?
—
“You think about stopping especially when things don’t work out (laughs ed.), but then you have a sense of duty and – indeed – an extra charge that pushes you to start over and this has allowed me to stay there and have great satisfaction It wasn’t the right time when I left Inter, it was a disappointment, a significant life change, but it was right to do so because after so many years I thought it would be appropriate to have someone else at the helm of Inter.”
In the light of what we saw in Lisbon, can Inzaghi’s Inter go all the way in the Champions League?
—
“This was a very important obstacle to overcome, it hasn’t been completely overcome but the good 50% has been done and even more. And I must say that this puts it in a position to get through the round and to meet a team that it knows given that it’s one of the two Italians. After that, only the final remains”.
