Suara.com – Member of Commission X DPR RI Zainuddin Maliki asked the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) to take strict action against his researcher Andi Prince Hasanuddin. This is because his posts are considered to undermine the spirit of tolerance on social media.
“The person concerned has already apologized, but I hope that BRIN will continue to provide education and take firm steps for the researchers so as not to undermine the spirit of tolerance that is being built together with great difficulty,” he said in a written statement in Jakarta, Tuesday (25/4/2023).
According to him, it is very inappropriate for a researcher from a national research institute who is not ready to accept differences, even to the point of issuing death threats.
According to Zainuddin, not only AP Hasanuddin, but also Thomas Djamaluddin also needed to be disciplined.

“In fact, Prof. Thomas’ comments on Facebook as a source for AP Hasanuddin issuing death threats, must also be given sanctions, even more severe,” he said.
The former Chancellor of the Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya stated that the Indonesian nation is longing for the growth and development of educated and civilized human beings.
“However, it is very sad to find a researcher from a national research institute thinking shallow and arrogant in dealing with differences,” he said.
He said the lack of civility in question as a researcher and in no way reflected his capacity as an intellectual in social media had tarnished BRIN.
Threat
Andi Prince Hasanuddin, under the account name AP Hasanuddin, uploaded the threatening comments to Muhammadiyah members, which is known to a BRIN astronomy researcher.

AP Hasanuddin commented on a link uploaded by another BRIN researcher named Thomas Jamaluddin regarding the difference in the method for determining the day of Eid 2023.
Initially, Thomas commented that Muhamamdiyah had disobeyed the Government’s decision because it established Eid al-Fitr 1444 H differently from the government’s stipulation, and Thomas’ comment was replied to by AP Hasanuddin’s account.
“I don’t hesitate to silence you Muhammadiyah, which is still egocentric. It’s been teased by Mr. Thomas, Mr. Marufin, et al. How come it still doesn’t work,” wrote AP Hasanuddin’s account.
Then, AP Hasanuddin also wrote a reply comment on the upload of Ahmad Fuazan S.’s account.
“Please report my comments with threats of murder!!! I’m ready to go to jail. I’m tired of seeing your fights!!!” write AP Hasanuddin in all capital letters. (Between)
