In March 2023, the Mexican podcast The Horror Stories achieved the goal of angering the entire community of gamers and streamers, after treating these communities as ‘boobs’ and ‘rat children’ in one of their episodes. The members of the program had to apologize and ended up closing the program because they could not stop the mockery and attacks on social networks. Now, one of its participants, in an attempt to make peace with the video game community, screwed up with them again.
Been Floriana, one of the participants of the late podcast and the person in charge of the funa when treating gamers with ‘tits’, decided to create a program for YouTube on her own, called “Everything I Didn’t Know”, a project that in the description of the pilot episode search for “prevent misinformation on a topic (any topic) from generating attention in a negative way and this could offend and make someone feel bad”. This pilot has the participation of Santiago Bernaldo de Quiros, director of E-Squad, an academy to improve performance in competitive video games, with whom he talked about issues related to video games to avoid the taboos and myths that surround this world.
However, the involvement of the expert Floriana’s relationship with the gamers worsened in just 10 minutes of the program: Santiago, when explaining to the hostess the difference between the companies that create consoles and video game studios, used Nintendo as an example of this and mentioned that “Nintendo is never going to develop video games”, forgetting that the company has been the developer of the Mario and Zelda sagas since their inception. This is an error that users decided not to forgive and used to revive the fun towards the Youtuber.
The pilot carries thousands of mocking comments
“I think another funada will make them reflect better”, “I have never seen this community so united by funa, it’s beautiful”, are two of the more than 11,000 negative and mocking comments that the video has, which collects more than 164 thousand views, 986 likes y 21 mil dislikes. If the closure of the podcast didn’t help Floriana learn not to mess with the gaming community, this new mistake may teach her that she shouldn’t try to empathize with a community that doesn’t forgive or forget negative comments towards them.
