Marc Marquez: Honda appeal, Carmelo Ezpeleta clarifies
Dorna boss Carmelo Ezpeleta in an interview with As promoted sprint races, hastily introduced in MotoGP this season to increase interest around the World Championship: “It’s a format we like, we have almost double the ratings in all countries on Saturdays. We have ratings that we haven’t had since before 2019.”
On the sanction to Marc Marquez (double long lap) and the consequent appeal by Honda on the transfer of the sanction to the first GP in which the rider will return to the track, he expressed himself as follows: “There are three judges, two appointed by the FIM and one by the IRTA The decision was also made immediately, but there was an appeal from Marc against the sanction and the FIM considered that it was a legal matter and not a sporting one, so they referred it to the Court of Appeal of the FIM, which is made up of lawyers”.
“If it reaches the CAS, the decision will have to be postponed until there is a resolution with a precautionary measure. This is usually done, but I don’t know how it will go and when they will make their decision. If they require more time and there is a match in the middle, the normal thing is that they will postpone the sanction”.
