After the third consecutive knockout (the tenth in the championship), the anger of the Nerazzurri explodes. From the coach to the players, no one is saved
All guilty and nothing to save. The anger of the Inter fans after Saturday night’s home slip does not subside, on the contrary. Criticisms, outbursts, trials and (aside from insults) are rampant on social media, a widespread feeling of resignation and discouragement. The feeling, judging by the general tone on social media, is that the third consecutive knockout, i.e. the tenth in 28 championship days, was the classic straw that broke the camel’s back. The main targets of the Nerazzurri fans, capable of keeping the #Inter and #InterFiorentina hashtags trending for over 14 hours, are Inzaghi and Lukaku. Not even a “flag” like Bastoni is saved. On balance, it is the entire group judged to be “at the end of the line” that ends up in the dock.
THE GROUP
—
“This team is finished”, says someone, “because they have no grit, no ability or desire to recover from the disadvantage”. And again: “It is frustrating to know that, once a goal has been conceded, you can never turn it around. It’s a script that’s already written.” The results, on the other hand, do not lie, as well as the dynamics that have determined and accompanied the ten defeats collected so far. “The magic of Conte’s group is over,” others write. “The players are resigned, no one believes in it anymore. Immediately the goal, the resignation takes over”. There are those who support the judgments with very precise examples, identifying the faults and sins of a group that no longer appears to be such. “Everyone tries to work things out in their own way and be protagonists”. Clearly, for the fan in question, “the episode in which Mkhitaryan sees Lukaku in an optimal position, but he still tries to score alone”.
INZAGHI
—
“We don’t have a team anymore”, others add, shooting into the crowd. But the main defendant is undoubtedly the technician, the object of ferocious attacks and scathing judgments. “Last year Inter spent six months with Conte’s wicked daughter. Then Inzaghi released them and group management failed. If the match starts badly – many underline – the team falls apart, the boss is missing”. For some, “the Inzaghi project is over. Same mistakes as always.” So much so that “at this point the exemption is inevitable”. The immediate change on the bench is a desire that recurs in numerous tweets, complete with candidates: “Via Inzaghi, in Cambiasso for the season finale, then it will be what it will be”. If the technician and his project are considered “finished”, however there are those who do not forget the club, defined as “absent”.
LUKAKU AND NOT ONLY
—
If Inzaghi seems to be the main target of Nerazzurri social anger, Lukaku follows closely behind, guilty of having devoured at least two sensational occasions. There are those who bluntly define it as “embarrassing”, “not even a distant relative of the one admired in Conte’s time”. He is even “a burden”, “a ballast that works against” and who “should return, apologizing, every single euro that Inter has paid him this year”. The fans began to show impatience with the Belgian, as if their patience had run out, because many remember Big Rom’s promises and good intentions after his return to Milan. To tell the truth, demonstrating how discouragement is generalized among the Inter people, there are those who also take it out on a flag like Bastoni, found guilty of the goal that condemned Inzaghi’s troops to the third consecutive thud. “He thinks he’s Beckenbauer and lets himself be shot by Bonaventura,” someone concludes. Others, however, underline “the total involution. Clumsy and hunched over. Disappointment”.
