For many years, the FIFA franchise remained a product focused on the European and North American markets. However, well into the 21st century, someone thought it was time to turn to Mexico and Latin America. FIFA Football 2004 included Mexican teams, FIFA Football 2004 the entire Mexican league, and FIFA 06 took it to the next level with narration by Enrique “Perro” Bermúdez and Ricardo Peláez. 6 years later, everything ended and recently the “Dog” revealed the reason for his departure.
El Perro Bermudez explains his departure from FIFA after failing to reach an agreement with EA
During his participation in the YouTube program of Antonio de Valdés, a figure of sports journalism in Mexico (via Medio Tiempo), Enrique Bermúdez de la Serna revealed the reason why he stopped narrating the games in the EA Sports franchise being FIFA 12 the last participation together with Ricardo Peláez. According to the sportscaster, he considered his pay for the job to be good but when he realized that Electronic Arts was making millions of dollars he asked for a raise and the company refused.
In this regard, the “Dog” declared: “they paid well, until I realized what those guys were earning for the little game, millions and millions. I asked for a raise, we did not reach an agreement and I sent them flying, that was it. A guy from there told me that no one ever dared to refuse to narrate FIFA and I told him, well, I’m the first and it’s over, that’s how it ended.”

El Perro Bermudez and Ricardo Pelaéz narrated in various installments of FIFA
Unfortunately, in addition to the lack of settlement over money between the sportscaster and EA, another situation arose that marked the end of this era. Ricardo Peláez was summoned as sports director of Club América to lead an ambitious project and could no longer narrate the games of the franchise’s deliveries. El Perro Bermúdez pointed out that Peláez’s departure also sealed his departure from FIFA: “also, Ricardo Peláez is called by América and he could not be with me. They wanted to put several commentators on me, I am a professional who works with anyone, but The duo with Ricardo was already very well done. There was no agreement financially or with the new couple to do it, but it was an incredible experience, it puts you into a world where they don’t know you like the kids are, you become public again. In Argentina they even yelled ‘Tirititito’ for FIFA, it’s incredible.”
For subsequent installments, EA Sports hired ESPN commentators and analysts Fernando Palomo and Mario Alberto Kempes, the latter an Argentine soccer legend who has been the voice of FIFA for more than 10 years.
