Having become increasingly popular in recent years, especially in large cities, scooters dedicated to sharing are compact, practical, light vehicles with performances designed for rapid city travel, preferring an autonomy that is as generous as possible at maximum speed.
There is also to enter this slice of the market HondaThat filed several patent applications for a compact vehicle that seems to look more like a motorcycle than a scooter, which could have slightly higher range and performance than the average vehicle dedicated to this type of activity.
Analyzing the drawings attached to the patent applications, it can be seen that the wheelbase of this motorcycle is extremely short, with the rider almost sitting on the rear wheel, with the adjustable saddle that allows the riding position to be adapted in relation to the height who is above it.
The battery is mounted under the seat, and is designed to be easily removed and replaced. This is likely to be Honda’s Mobile Power Pack unit, which is used in some existing electric scooters in Japan.
The most interesting element however, it is the way Honda intends to recover the rental scooters scattered around the city and bring them back to the charging base. Instead of stowing them in the compartment of a van, the idea of the Japanese technicians is that of connect them to each other, forming a sort of diamond pattern, and transport them by driving only the scooter that is at the top of the caravan. The scooters are hooked up via the footrests, which have a second section which can be extracted if necessary and connected to the fork of a second scooter, using a tow ball. The connection is not only mechanical, but also the electrical cables necessary to provide inputs to the vehicles are joined.
