Gladiator 2 has leaked images of the new Colosseum. As production progresses on the Ridley Scott-directed sequel, new photos of the set are being unveiled, giving you a first glimpse of the film’s impressive location. Ridley Scott’s next film is a long-awaited sequel to his historical epic. A film that was released in the year 2000 and starred Russell Crowe in the role of a Roman general who is stripped of his title and sold to the life of a gladiator after refusing to swear allegiance to a cruel emperor. Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington and Barry Keoghan have recently joined the cast of the second installment.

As production of Gladiator 2 ramps up, the count of Twitter known as “Paul Mescal Updates” has shared a series of Gladiator 2 filming set images. In these images, the impressive structures of the film are glimpsed. A new Roman Colosseum is coming!
What can we expect from the new locations of the sequel?
In the photos above you see a new gladiator pit built on the Moroccan filming location. Apparently, the structure is largely made of wood, unlike the impressive Roman Colosseum seen in the events of the original film. While the final set could look very different as work progresses on Gladiator 2, the wooden location could also be part of a different structure seen alongside the great Roman arenas.

Gladiator 2 will be released in 2024. Therefore, viewers will finally be able to enjoy Ridley Scott’s long-awaited and discussed sequel on the big screen. After the box office and public success of the original film, in 2001 talk began about a sequel, with ideas around Lucius (Spencer Treat Clark) and his desire to know more about the truth about his father or to focus on Lucius’s own parents. Other ideas suggested that Russell Crowe’s Maximum Tenth Meridian could be resurrected in stories that could see him live into modern times. We’ll see what ends up happening.
