Phenomena such as the Great Resignation or silent layoffs contributed to increased tension in the labor market on an international scale. Now, the impact of artificial intelligence, through the development of platforms such as ChatGPT, generates uncertainty by proposing the automation of processes that currently require jobs made up of real people.
In this sense, a document published in March by Goldman Saches indicated that generative AI could replace 300 million jobs in the future.
LinkedIn in the Top 25. In our country, for the moment, unemployment continues to drop although temporary employment, although it has been reduced in the last year, continues to exceed the EU average. In this context, LinkedIn has recently published a report entitled ‘LinkedIn Top Companies 2023: the 25 best companies to advance professionally in Spain’.
Most sought after specialties. According to the job search platform, this ranking “provides very useful information and resources to professionals”, such as the skills with the most demand, the most frequent positions and the areas with the most professionals in each company. Thus, candidates can better orient themselves in the event that they are looking for a job. In this sense, it should be noted that the two most frequently offered jobs among firms are account executive (40%) and software engineer (36%).
Selection criteria. LinkedIn points out that, to carry out this classification, they analyzed companies that had at least 500 employees in Spain as of December 31, 2022 and whose turnover rate was not greater than 10%. Additionally, those companies that had made staff cuts of more than 10% of their workforce were ruled out.
Technology and electronic commerce. In this sense, the ranking is led by Amazon, a firm that is part of the technology and IT services field selected by LinkedIn along with other companies such as Epam Systems, Amadeus, Indra, Ericsson, Gartner, Oracle and Kyndryl.
Other services. The branches of human resources, financial services, software development and telecommunications are also present. This is the case of ADP Iberia, Hipoges, SAP and Telefónica. Additionally, Tetra Pak, a packaging and container services company, is also on the list prepared by the job search platform.
banking sector. The next major branch selected by LinkedIn is banking, made up of BBVA, Santander, CaixaBank, Eurocaja Rural and Banco Sabadell. It is interesting to add that the job position most frequently sought by these banking entities is that of a banking specialist, according to the report.
Pharmacy and medicine. For their part, the companies in charge of manufacturing pharmaceutical products and medical equipment are represented on this list through Grifols, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Boehringer Ingelheim and Werfen. They are looking for, among other positions, laboratory assistants and salespeople.
industrial weight. Finally we find industrial companies such as Schneider Electric and Siemens, both looking for project managers. In addition, Airbus is in the top 25: the firm is looking for, among other specialties, space engineers and program managers.
Looking at the future. This list not only serves as an orientation to candidates who are looking for a job. It also helps the companies themselves to find out first-hand about the state of the labor market and establish the best strategy to attract qualified professionals and increase their level of job retention. In this sense, there are firms that have chosen to promote teleworking or establish a four-day work week without salary reduction.
