JAKARTA – Government Ambassador Arab Saudi for the Republic of Indonesia and ASEAN, Faisal Al-Amudi said that Saudi Arabia had evacuated 560 Indonesian citizens (WNI) from the armed conflict crisis that occurred in Sudan.
He said the evacuation by sea in this short period of time was proof of how serious the commitment of the Saudi Arabian government was to provide excellent assistance to friendly countries, including Indonesia.
“For those who want to leave Sudan, Saudi Arabia is always open to it, and helps them to return to their respective countries,” said Faisal through his translator in a Press Briefing at the Royal Saudi Arabian Embassy in Jakarta, Wednesday (26/4) /2023).
This assistance, he said, also reflected the very good historical and state relations between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia. The government of Saudi Arabia provided all the needs needed by Indonesian citizens and citizens of friendly countries who were evacuated, starting before their departure until they arrived in Jeddah.
“The facilities provided include visas and temporary residence before they return to their respective countries,” said Faisal.
In fact, he stressed that this good service by Saudi Arabia could be proven by itself when the Indonesian citizens returned to Indonesia, regarding how the Saudi Arabian government pays such great attention to foreign nationals (foreigners) and also includes Indonesian citizens in this evacuation process.
“A few days ago was also the moment of Eid, we worked hand in hand and coordinated very well between the government of Saudi Arabia, also through the Embassy, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs so that the process of evacuating Indonesian citizens from Sudan could go well,” he continued.
Faisal emphasized that Saudi Arabia always cooperates with its friendly countries in the world, including Indonesia, especially in dealing with various kinds of crises.
“Please believe that we, Saudi Arabia, always pay respect and attention to foreigners in Saudi Arabia, including Indonesian citizens,” concluded Faisal.
