WASHINGTON – Former President of the United States (US) Donald Trump was shocked when he learned that a Manhattan grand jury voted to indict him.
This was revealed by his team of lawyers, who revealed that Trump would face 34 charges.
The former US president is facing charges over allegations of paying $130,000 in hush money or $130,000 in bribes to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
The actress claimed she had an affair with Trump in July 2006. Local media reports, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), revealed that Trump allegedly bribed Daniels to keep quiet about the scandal when Trump ran for president in the 2016 election.
Trump has denied having an affair with Daniels and accused the adult film actress of racking up him and committing fraud.
Joe Tacopina, of Trump’s attorney team, told Fox News host Sean Hannity that he had spoken to Donald Trump, 76, after the charges were dropped.
According to Tacopina, she and Trump learned of the charges through media reports and not from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office.
“He’s ready to fight. You know, he’s the toughest guy I know. He was surprised, you know, because we weren’t actually… I was surprised,” Tacopina said of Trump’s reaction to the indictment.
“I have never been more angry about the accusations because today, the rule of law in the United States is dead. Is dead. It’s dead,” said Tacopina, who was launched on Saturday (1/4/2023).
