This wine is from more than 1650 years ago, and it is likely that you will not like its taste at all.
We always say that a good wine is one that has been kept for a long time, but if we told you that there is a vino which apparently dates from the 4th century AD. C., you might think twice before drinking it.
Wine is a good accompaniment to certain meals, and also a way to socialize, but be that as it may, there are cheap wines, expensive wines, and prohibitive wines, and a lot has to do with shelf life.
And believe it or not, the wine Roman winedating back more than 1650 years, there is only one bottle in the world, and is on display in a museum, and best of all, experts say that it is still drinkable. However, no one has dared to drink it.
Römerwein was discovered in 1867 in an underground cellar in the German city of Speyer, where the Roman city of Noviomagus was once located.

The wine was analyzed on several occasions and it was determined that it is a wine of Roman origin, and it is the only intact bottle of the 16 that were manufactured in its time.
At that time, to preserve wine, olive oil was used, sealing it from the outside air.
You can drink it, but it seems to taste very bad
As you can see in the image courtesy of Emmanuel Giel, the wine is now a clear liquid with no alcohol and a solid rosin-like substance.
The bottle has been on display in the Pfalz Historical Museum for more than 100 years and although no expert has been able to test it, they say it is still drinkable, but opening the bottle would spoil it directly due to its age.
The teacher specializing in wines, Monica Christmanhas pointed out that “microbiologically it is probably not spoiled, but as can be seen based on its appearance, it will not exactly bring joy to the palate.”
