Disney starts this 2023 stomping with the live-action adaptations of his animated films. On the one hand, it will premiere Peter Pan & Wendy the next 28th of April exclusively for Disney Plus, with Jude Law in the role of Captain Hookand at the end of May it will launch in theaters the live action remake from The Little Mermaid with Halle Bailey as Ariel.
Earlier this week, Disney shared the first trailer for Peter Pan & Wendy, a month after the film’s release on Disney Plusand its director David Lowery has also been promoting the film by talking about some of its characters.
Jude Law’s Captain James Hook Will Be More Complex
Captain Hook is one of the most iconic villains of Disneybesides the eternal peter pan enemy. For this one remake in real imageDavid Lowery wanted to get to know the character and his motives in depth: “we really wanted to understand Why does Hook hate Peter Pan so much?“, explained the director in Total Film magazine.
“Where does that anger come from? We did everything possible to build a story for the two characters,” he added. David Lowerywho wanted to achieve a coherent story and mythology for his film.
Captain James Hook of Peter Pan & Wendy is played in this version by actor Jude Law, who we recently saw in Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets (2022). To David Lowery he was the right actorbecause it is so versatile that it can make a precise gesture with the mustache as well as “break your heart”.
Lastly, David Lowery also noted that his live-action version of Peter Pan & Wendy for Disney Plus would be nastier than cartoonthat you will stop liking their characters and there will be real conflicts between Peter Pan y Wendy.
