Pirro in great difficulty, Zanetti took advantage of it and won race 1 in the SBK class
Misano – The Italian Speed Championship has begun with the first race. And it started with one surprise: Michele Pirro in great difficulty. Lorenzo Zanetti won in the Superbike category.
In Moto3 first success for Perez Selfa.
Here are the results and reports
Superbike
In race 1 Pirro was in great difficulty right from the first corners, the wet weather experts took advantage of it and the race saw Lorenzo Zanetti (Broncos Racing – Ducati) on the top step of the podium, with great surprise Kevin Manfredi (Penta Motorsport – Suzuki) and third Simone Saltarelli (TCF Racing Team) overtaking Luca Vitali (Scuderia Improve – Honda) at the last corner.
Lorenzo Zanetti, who started with great determination, after an initial red flag which, due to the sudden rain, stopped everyone in the garage. Right from the first corners, Zanetti gets behind everyone and begins to snatch fast laps and linear trajectories on this truly treacherous Misano asphalt.
Kevin Manfredi arrives very strong from the rear and after a few laps, with his Suzuki, he also overtakes Michele Pirro and positions himself second, chasing after Zanetti who, by now, has taken a big lead.
Pirro loses positions; the choice of a wet set-up was not favourable, especially when the track started to dry.
The race becomes tricky, Simone Saltarelli risks making a high side in the middle of the race, but manages to keep control of his Honda, an essential move to keep up with Luca Vitali, and overtake him for third position right at the last corner, the “Misano 1”, getting back on the podium.
Lorenzo Zanetti wins with a great gap from a tough Kevin Manfredi and third Simone Saltarelli.
Supersport 300
Race 1 – Hard-fought race that sees Perez Selfa win race 1, according to Luca Lunetta who precedes Cristian Lolli,
On the podium on the last lap Luca Lunetta mocked Nicola Carraro and Cristian Lolli who was chasing Lunetta closely, for a few thousandths of a second he had to settle for third position.
Perez Selfa sends an important message to Moto3: he will be a tough nut to crack.
