Mexican businessman Carlos Slim Helú returned to the list of the richest men in the world, according to Forbes magazine.
forbes magazine published this Tuesday its annual ranking of billionaires in the world, made up of 2,640 people, with an accumulated fortune of 12.2 trillion dollars.
The list highlights that there are fewer people with fortunes greater than one billion dollars (MMDD) —a condition to enter the select group—, since in 2022 2,668 were included.
In the most recent edition of the ranking, the magazine presents a new first place, who dethroned Elon Muskthe American boss of Tesla and Twitter, who a year ago had an estimated fortune of 219 billion dollars, but in 2023 he lost one place, to be in second position, with 180 billion.
Who is the richest man in the world?
The richest man in the world is the Frenchman Bernard Arnault, head of the luxury brand firm LVMH, with an estimated fortune of 211 billion dollars.and who a year ago had the third position, with 158 billion dollars.
Arnault also surpassed Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, who last year had an estimated fortune of 171 billion dollars, which by 2023 fell to 114 billion dollars.
The top 10 millionaires: Slim returns
The top 10 is completed by Larry Ellison, from Oracle, with 107 billion dollars; Warren Buffett, from Berkshire Hathaway, with 106 million dollars; Bill Gates, from Microsoft, with 104 million dollars; Michael Bloomberg, from Bloomberg LP, with 94.5 million dollars.
In eighth position is the Mexican tycoon Carlos Slim Helú, head of América Móvil and Telmex, with 93 billion dollars., followed by Mukesh Ambani, with 83.4 MMDD, and Steve Ballmer, co-founder of Microsoft, with 80.7 MMDD.
