Motta’s team scored with Posch, Moro and Barrow. The bianconeri – with the squad reduced to the bone – can do little and even let themselves be overtaken in the standings
Udinese has tried several times to set a tone, to stay in the game, to make sense of an already difficult away match given the heavy defections (Walace, Becao, Success, Perez), but Bologna were – very trivially – more strong. Everywhere. It was in the middle, in the offensive ferocity (first three shots on goal and three goals), in the construction and protection of Bardi who had to take Skorupski’s place at the last minute. Motta flies to 40 points, safety acquired even if this wasn’t the goal: the rest will be seen. Posch (fifth goal), Moro (first goal of the season) and Barrow (he hadn’t scored for over five months), give Thiago Motta a victory in Senso Unico, without discussions and which is worth overtaking the Friulians in the standings and joining the Florentine.
The starting eleven are surprising: Motta, who loses Skorupski due to fever (Bardi in goal) and sets up Sansone Falso-9, leaves Sosa, Lykogiannis and Orsolini down to make way for Lucumi, Aebischer and Barrow; Sottil (suspended, Cristaldi on the bench) loses Success (not even on the bench, and he is the fifth starter he lacks) and compared to the forecasts of the eve he puts Samardzic in place of Arslan, Zeegelaar in place of Masina and Thauvin forward together with Beto. The direction of Maria Sole Ferrieri Caputi (Mazzoleni al Var) is the second absolute in Serie A and the start is a lightning strike by Posch who slips Silvestri (guilty) from 25 meters for the internal advantage. Udinese has forced situations but Sottil decides that Samardzic is better in the middle, and actually when he lights up (like Udogie on the right) Udinese has another step. Except that Bologna always keeps the match in hand: in the 12th minute the double arrives with Moro who dribbles Samardzic’s own on the edge of the area and puts the hole necessary for the 2-0 with Silvestri diving. Bologna dominant, with Ferguson canceling Pereyra and Beto receiving only one ball and being defused by Posch in the 21st minute of the first half. The Friulian’s first real high note comes in the 42nd minute: from the edge of the area Beto protects and turns around, a blow that rises slightly from the crossbar. Udinese ends up relying heavily on the Portuguese attacker, to unravel a midfield skein in which Cristaldi can’t find an exit solution in a very clean way. The Friulians’ last chance comes with a free kick from Samardzic: Bardi flies too much but takes it.
MUSE AND KNOWN
The Udinese coach decides to start the second half by inserting Nestorovski: defense that passes to 4 (from 3-5-2) and a masked trident with Thauvin, the Macedonian and Beto. But 4′ pass and Bologna scores the third goal: Kyriakopoulos goes down on the left, Udinese is crushed inside the area, the ball goes to Moro who takes out Lovric and supports Barrow who scores again (his third) after five and a half months . It’s a Bologna that draws applause and felts a patched-up Udinese (the absence of Walace is felt) but which is unable to stop the wave of chances, even if then (as in Salerno: two shots two goals) Bologna scores three goal with three shots on goal. There is also an opportunity for Sansone (Silvestri is impeccable here) but in short, the match was throttled by Bologna at the start of the two halves: and Saputo, who will return to the United States in the evening, is increasingly convinced in being able to renew the agreement with Thiago Motta until 2025. Appointment at the end of April, for now Bologna are eighth.
