The weather conditions for the week of Easter 2023 will be marked by a tailspin of winter, with the return of rain, snow, cold and wind. The disturbance arriving on Palm Sunday (April 2) from Northern Europe is accompanied by cold air which will push towards the western Mediterranean, where it will give rise to the formation of a low pressure circulationcentered today in the middle of the day near Sardinia and which will move to Sicily within the first hours of Monday.
The weather will therefore become more unstable especially on the major islands and in the central regions and at the end of the day also in the southern peninsular. Just in the South, Monday could present critical issues due to the risk of showers and thunderstorms, even of strong intensity. The transit of this perturbation over Italy will produce a significant drop in temperatures, particularly in the Centre-South and very intense ventilation, with mainly northerly winds, drawn by the deep depression area which, according to current projections, will have reached the Ionian on Tuesday morning to then move away towards the east, attenuating.
Palm Sunday, 2 April, irregular cloudiness, at times compact, in most of Italy, except for initial clearings in the middle Adriatic and in the extreme south and more lasting clear spells in the north-west, in particular between upper Piedmont and western Lombardy. In the morning local rainfall or showers in Emilia, the northern Apennines and Sardinia. In the central hours of the day, there was an increase in instability with scattered rainfall, including downpours or thunderstorms, in Emilia Romagna, in the central regions and on the islands; more sporadic phenomena in the South; snow level around 1400-1600 meters along the central-northern Apennines; possible isolated showers or thunderstorms also along the Pre-Alps and in the nearby foothills of eastern Lombardy and Veneto. In the evening, there is a trend towards an improvement in the North-East, in the central Tyrrhenian regions; rains and showers in the mid-Adriatic, in the Islands and extending to Calabria.

Very windy day for northern winds, up to tense or strong on the upper Adriatic and in a large part of the central-south, with locally stormy gusts up to 70-80 km/h. Tuesday 4 in the northeastern regions, in eastern Liguria, Tuscany, Umbria and northern Lazio, mostly sunny weather, with clear or partly cloudy skies. In the extreme Northwest initial scattered clouds with a few snowflakes above about 1300 m on the Cuneo hills; cleared gradually wider during the day. Irregular and variable cloudiness in the rest of the Centro-South. During the day possibility of isolated rainfall between the south of the Marches, Abruzzo and lower Lazio (snow up to around 600-900 meters), and downpours or isolated thunderstorms in the southeast of Calabria, Sicily and Sardinia.
