Studio Wildcard shared important news with its entire community. It turns out that ARK II, his long-awaited game for Xbox Series X | S, PC and Xbox Game Pass, will be delayed and will not arrive this year. What will debut before the end of 2023 is a remastered version of ARK: Survival Evolved.
Through a statement, Studio Wildcard announced that it made the decision to delay ARK II. Originally this release was scheduled to debut sometime in 2023 on Xbox Series X|S and PC, but now the community will have to wait until 2024 to play it.

But why did they make the decision to delay ARK II? As the developer explained, his intention is for ARK II to have the highest possible quality to the point of being an “exceptional” and highly rewarding experience for players. In addition, they say they want to be able to use Unreal Engine 5 to its fullest to create something the studio has never achieved before.
To achieve this, Studio Wildcard needs more time, especially since the quality they are looking for for ARK II forced them to adjust their schedule. Bottom line: ARK II was delayed to make it a higher quality product than it would be without this delay.

An ARK remaster is on the way
The good news is that despite ARK II being delayed, 2023 won’t end without a new ARK release. It turns out that to get familiar with Unreal Engine 5, Studio Wildcard got to work to create an “intermediate product” that will be a remaster of ARK: Survival Evolved.
This remastering is called ARK: Survival Ascended and it is a relaunch with a lot of improvements beyond the graphic quality. Among its novelties are multiplayer and cross-platform mods, a new anti-cheat system, dynamic water and interactive foliage. Of course, it will also have better graphics thanks to Unreal Engine technologies such as Nanite, Lumen and RTXDI.

ARK: Survival Ascended will be available in August 2023 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It is worth mentioning that Xbox players will be able to buy a package that includes ARK: Survival Ascended and ARK II (with access to its Beta) in exchange for $49.99 USD. For its part, on PlayStation 4 it will cost $39.99 USD.
Please note that ARK: Survival Ascended will not be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One because Studio Wildcard wants to take full advantage of the power of the next generation.
