The new Super Mario Bros. movie has begun generating joyous accounts for Nintendo and Illumination, the movie studio behind the animated adaptation. This is because despite the fact that it has a poor reception from movie critics who gave it a 54% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the gamer media and especially fans of the popular video game saga have loved Super Mario Bros.: The Movie, having almost 100% approval from the audience on the same site.
And with its premiere, many have remembered the previous famous eighties adaptation of the video game, which is considered one of the worst adaptations in history, despite the fact that being so bad it has become a cult film.

A thought that many fans of video games and movies share, as well as people linked to the film industry such as actor Seth Rogen, actor who lends his voice to Donkey Kong in the new Mario movie. In a recent interview with Variety, Rogen talked about the original Super Mario Bros. movie starring Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo.
“When I was 11 years old, I saw the original Super Mario Bros. movie and I was really excited. However, it’s one of the worst movies ever made, and I was really disappointed. I think that’s what made me realize that movies they could be bad…I’ve never had anything like this happen to me before. It really bummed me out,” the actor said.
Something that also indicates that he believes that it will not happen with this new film, since despite the criticism of the original film, Seth Rogen believes that the adaptation of Illumination and Nintendo will meet the expectations of the fans, anticipating that its premiere “is a chance to claim that moment. It’s nice to know that 11-year-olds won’t be disappointed like I was.”
I wish that seems to be coming true, since Mario fans of all ages who have already seen the film have indicated that they loved this new version on the big screen.
