the card game Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel of Konami which is playable right now, will be shutting down its servers at the end of this year. Konami announced the decision to end Cross Duel this week, saying that the game’s service will come to an end on September 4, which will mean it was available for just over a year from its July 2022 release.
While that will be disappointing news for those who are still playing, the good news is that you’ll be getting more rewards for the remainder of the game.
Konami laid out the plans for the endgame this week regarding things like in-game currency sales, as well as a few more dates on the upcoming game schedule to look forward to. Since the game’s shutdown has been set for September 4, Konami has gone ahead and ended all sales of “Crystals” in the game.
Additionally, Konami provided details on refunding unused crystals, but it appears the policy only applies to players in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan based on the endgame announcement post. For all players elsewhere, they will apparently just have to spend their crystals in the game for the duration.
As for the limited future of the game, April 4th will bring the next event to look forward to with the start of a Yu-Gi-Oh Sevens single player event. After that, there will be a new raid event starting on April 13. Both events will bring new cards to be added to the game, and between and after these events, players should notice more rewards for logging in and through intermittent gifts.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links will come to an end on September 4.
