Wo Long Fallen Dynasty it’s a souls-like very particular. The new baby of Team Ninja e Cow Tecmo he showed up at the start of the videogame season with great ambitions and a pinch of madness, generated above all by the desire to be daring in some aspects, which have made the gaming experience very original. One of the choices that we particularly appreciated, although it may not find everyone’s approval, is “streamlining” the statistics discourse, entrusting the responsibility of becoming the tools for shaping the player builds to just five parameters. Net of the appreciation, however, it is undeniable that the new formula is not very simple to assimilate, above all because one gets the feeling, at times, that not all statistics have the same specific weight. To be clear, we often preferred to increase the same statistics, as we found it more functional to the experience and our style of play. Are you scared? Don’t do it! Our “five tips” go perfectly with the five elements that characterize Wo Long’s gameplay and, therefore, here is a brief explanation of how they work and which, in our opinion, should be increased in a more substantial way.
Wo Long Fallen Dynasty: the Way of Fire
The Way of Fire is the one that convinced us the least. As incredibly fascinating as it is to unlock fire spells, we’ve noticed that increasing this particular stat isn’t exactly very beneficial. Progressing with the investment of points, in fact, the only really interesting factor is the increase in the effectiveness of the Martial arts but, considering that these techniques can still be used in a limited way, the game does not seem worth the candle. Of course, the Virtue of Fire also increases the spirit absorbed by the attack and a few life points, but if we really have to admit it, it is certainly the one that has aroused the greatest appeal for us.
Metal Street
The Virtue of Metal is instead the most complex to evaluate. The latter directly affects two very interesting parameters, Sustainability of Spirit and Spells, and it does so in a particular way. By increasing this Virtue it is therefore possible to have a “discount” on the casting of spells and greater resistance to the lacerations of the spirit, but precisely for these reasons we were not able to appreciate it as we would have liked. We would have liked, to be clear, that maybe it increased the damage of the spells or maybe the affinity with a particular skill, and not that it was “limited” to a type of advantages that are very “buff” and not very offensive. Is it personal taste? Maybe yes, but we are not very convinced…
Street of the Water
Here things start to get very interesting. The Virtue of Water is the first one that we really appreciated, because it gave us the impression of knowing exactly where to go. This particular “branch” is in fact designed mainly for those who want to focus heavily on stealth and in general on the speed of counterattacks, thus choosing to set up their alter ego as a sort of shinobi. In fact, the Virtue of Water enhances parameters such as stealth, which is also perfect for devastating attacks (those behind, to be clear), and the amount of spirit necessary for divert attacks, thus becoming an invaluable ally for all those who prefer a faster and at the same time “intelligent” approach to battles.
Way of the Earth
The Way of the Earth, on the other hand, is perhaps the one that everyone should decide to carry up, even if only a minimum. This, in fact, decreases both the consumption of Spirit during the detours of attacks and, above all, increases the maximum transportable loadwhich we can tell you right away is something to take a lot of consideration from the outset. Many armor and many good weapons are in fact belonging to the “heavy” class and consequently we advise you to keep an eye on this Virtue, also because it allows you to unlock some of the most interesting spells in the game.
Wood Street
Last on the list but first in order of importance is the Virtue of Wood. This parameter, in addition to increasing the life points in a more substantial way, also increases the defense Spiriti.e. the points lost when attacked, and the duration of the spells, thus placing itself, by right, in the very first undisputed place among the stats to be increased in order to continue your journey in the menacing China of Wo Long Fallen Dynasty in the most peaceful and expeditious way possible. Precisely the management of this statistic is one of the things we understood least, because we found it really too “out of phase” with respect to the others, but we are still happy to have brought it to a very high level very quickly.
In closing, we want to specify a couple of things. The first is that, in any case, you can always make a respec, but we don’t want to tell you how and when. The second is that each of these Virtues allows you to unlock and use certain spells, and therefore you will also have to take this into account when you have to spend your “skill” points.
