Under the weight of rumors and expectations that lasted for years, the Bloober Team embarked on the complex mission of making a remake of Silent Hill 2, considered by many to be the best game in the franchise, one of the best Survival Horror games of all time and for course one of the best games in history. Although there is still some uncertainty and doubt, the Polish study fully trusts the project, so much so that they are already thinking about the benefit it could bring them.

Bloober bets that Silent Hill 2 improves its historical sales
Currently, thinking about a production like Silent Hill 2 Remake is also doing it from a market perspective and therefore it is considered that there are millions of copies in terms of project expectations. However, dealing with Silent Hill is not easy and Bloober Team tries to deal with it by thinking in the most positive way possible as Piotr Babieno, CEO, points out in an interview for Bankier (via MP1ST). According to the executive, Bloober’s goal is to better position itself in the horror genre and since Silent Hill 2 is the most famous IP they have worked with so far, he thinks it will help them achieve a great sales goal.
SILENT HILL 2 is a beloved and timeless classic. No matter how clichéd it may sound, it’s true. This is also the reason why we approach working on the remake with such great care and respect for the original game.

“It can be assumed that 10 million copies sold is a range that will soon be real for us,” said the general director, referring to the fact that the sales cap for Bloober Team games is an average of 2 million copies. Although Piotr Babieno himself does not mention the Konami IP, it is understood that if he is not with her, it will not be with any other that they will have the opportunity to get those numbers
A very ambitious goal? Definitely and not because Silent Hill 2 Remake is expected to do badly, but because the reality of the franchise indicates that it is an IP with very low sales. In fact, its historical record indicates that with all the releases it has had since 1999, it barely exceeds 9 million copies sold. With that in mind, thinking of Silent Hill 2 Remake surpassing its own story is a big gamble, but maybe Bloober’s CEO is right that it can help the studio outsell the studio’s historical average. and perhaps more than the original installment since Silent Hill 2 barely exceeded one million copies sold.
