Since the first delivery of Screamthe horror franchise has focused on the life of Sidney Prescott and his friends, who have been chased by the masked killer Ghostface. However, in the latest installment, Scream 6it is revealed that Sam Carpenter is the daughter of Billy Loomisthe murderer from the first film.
Although Sam is a relatively new character in the series, his story is connected to the first film, as he Billy Loomis is his father. At some point during high school, Sam’s mother had an affair with Billy, which resulted in the birth of the young girl. Throughout Scream 5 and Scream 6, Sam is confronted with her identity and wonders if she has a dark side that makes her capable of murder.
Who is Christina Carpenter in the Scream saga?
However, the identity of Sam’s mother, Christina Carpenter, remains a mystery. Although it is suggested that Christina would have been present at Woodsboro High School at the time of the events of the first film, she is not mentioned in any of the previous installments. Also, it is unknown if Billy was with Sidney at the time or if they got together afterwards.
Although the original writers of Scream did not plan for Billy to have a secret daughter who would become Ghostface, the story was created to give Sam a subplot outside of the mystery model that Scream has typically followed.
Was Sam Carpenter born during the events of the original Scream movie?
In Scream VI, Sam’s driver’s license is planted at a Ghostface murder scene to frame her for the crime. Sam’s ID reveals that born in may 1997which means it was conceived around August 1996, before the events of the first film. This is important because Billy was not Ghostface at the time and he had not yet planned his revenge against Sidney.
Will we see Christina Carpenter in Scream 7?
Although in Scream 6, Sam and Tara mention that they don’t communicate with their mother, the door is still open for Christina Carpenter to make an appearance in Scream 7 if the three reconcile. Christina could play a big role in Sam’s story, as she might know more about Billy than Sidney. She could also be an amazing Ghostface, with a reveal similar to Roman from Scream 3, where she was the mastermind behind the other murders.
Although Christina wasn’t in the first Scream movie, it’s always possible that Sam and Tara will reunite with her in a future movie, giving her would allow Christina Carpenter to make her presence known on Scream 7. Will Christina be the missing key to understanding if Sam is really good or bad? Will it be the piece that connects the new Scream 6 story with some hidden role in the first movie? Or will it be when let’s see Neve Campbell again in her role Sidney Prescott recovering the prominence lost in the last films? Only time will tell.
