Although Din Djarin flaunts his possession in The Mandalorian, Bo-Katan Kryze is the true master in handling the Dark Saber in Star Wars
In season 2 of ‘The Mandalorian‘, Din Djarin became the rightful ruler of Mandalore and got el Darksaber after defeating the sinister in combat Moff Gideon. However, even though Mando is the current owner, Bo-Katan is still better than the remorseful Mandalorian at wielding this peculiar weapon.
In Episode 2 of this new season on Disney+, Din struggles to use the saber correctly against the Alamite attackers, while Bo-Katan uses it with ease against a scavenger cyborg. There is an alarming difference between the two.
This contrast between the two characters makes it evident that Bo-Katan is the one who best wields the Darksaber in the galaxy. At least until now.
Bo-Katan is the one who proves to be the expert with the dark saber
The character played by Katee Sackhoffhad as objective to recover the also known as Dark Sword to become the legitimate ruler of Mandalore. According to tradition, this weapon must be won in combat, and many Mandalorians blame the purge on Bo-Katan for obtaining the weapon in a way that is not in keeping with ancient Mandalorian traditions.
As a result, in the last aired episode of ‘The Mandalorian’ season 3, she is reluctant to take Mando’s saber. Although she wants it, she doesn’t want to get it back like that. It’s tempting, but no. She doesn’t want to repeat the same mistake as in the past. Even so, it is she who demonstrates her expert skill in handling the weapon.
Why does Din Djarin have difficulty handling the Black Saber in The Mandalorian?
On the other hand, Mando has had problems in the past with the handling of the saber. As shown in ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Episode 5. This black weapon requires the wielder to be fully focused, and in balance of mind and body, to wield it optimally.
Unlike Bo-Katan, Mando finds it difficult to focus on his identity and his troubled relationships. Therefore, Mando is unfit to rule Mandalore, and his lack of singular focus renders him incapable of wielding the saber effectively. She possesses a degree of internal coherence that Mando lacks.
Bo-Katan has a clear and definite knowledge of her identity and purpose, allowing her to stand her ground against external circumstances that try to break her.
Din still has some work to do to be able to wield the lightsaber effectively in Season 3. Less helmet removal and more saber training, Mando.
