The weak Atlantic perturbation (March 8) which in the last 24 hours has lapped Northern Italy is moving eastwards, bringing little rainfall limited to the Alpine areas and with the last effects in the morning in the extreme North-East. During Sunday a new North Atlantic perturbation (the 9th of the month) will rapidly cross Northern Italy and Tuscany and then slide towards the Central-Southern regions at the beginning of the week, where it will also bring thunderstorms that are running out already in the early hours of Tuesday. This new perturbation will be accompanied by an impetuous reinforcement of the cold winds from the north (Tramontana or Mistral), which will cause an air mass of Arctic origin to flow in, responsible for a sudden and significant drop in temperatures and the return of snow to the Apennines even below the 1000 meters: between Tuesday and Wednesday the climate could return to winter.
Forecast for the next few hours
Clouds and some residual showers in the extreme north-east with snowline above 1600 metres. At times compact clouds also in the western Alps and in Tuscany, with some snowflakes above 1200-1400 meters on the border crests of Valle d’Aosta and upper Piedmont. Over the rest of Italy we will have predominantly sunny weather, with some more significant clouds in the morning over the Tyrrhenian regions, in the South and over Sicily.
Maximum temperatures slightly decreasing in the Alps and in western Sardinia, increasing in the north-western plains due to the effect of Foehn winds. Generally very mild values for the period, with peaks around 20-22 degrees, locally even higher in the Ionian sectors.
Westerly winds intensifying, in particular up to Libeccio on the Ligurian coast, Mistral in Sardinia and in the Sicilian Channel, Foehn in the Northwest.
Seas: from moving to very moving the central and northern Tyrrhenian Sea and the Ligurian; the sea of Sardinia, the canals of the islands and the low Ionian have moved from a little to moving; calm or not moved all the others.

In the morning, increasing clouds in the north and in Tuscany with local rainfall in the western Alps and between La Spezia and upper Tuscany. Densifications also in the south-eastern Tyrrhenian sector. More clearing elsewhere. In the afternoon it worsens over much of the north with scattered rains and showers, less likely in Piedmont, but still rapidly decreasing from the west. Rains and showers arriving between the afternoon and evening also on the central Tyrrhenian regions, in Umbria and Marche. Weather still quite stable elsewhere. Snow quota around 1400-1800 meters in the Alps, further lowering in the evening.
Maximum temperatures decreasing in the North, without major variations elsewhere.
Westerly or southwesterly winds to moderate or tense on westerly seas.
Seas: the Ligurian is very moved, locally moved the other western seas and the Ionian offshore, the remaining basins are not moved.
