From what I understand about this whole video game process, this happened pretty quickly because it was about a year after I was approached at PlayStation with the idea of exploring the possibility of introducing Negro Leaguers into MLB The Show. Honestly, I think the people at PlayStation thought it could be something that would take place in the year 2024 instead of 2023. The whole project took on a life of its own, particularly after they paid us a visit. We had a series of previous meetings and then, finally, they wanted to come to our facilities in the museum itself. All this has led to the collaboration being carried out for this year.
They did a remarkable job making everything available for this edition of MLB The Show. However, I had to also focus on collaboration for about a year. It’s hard to keep a secret that long. I couldn’t wait for the announcement of the desire I had and how I thought others might feel. I was hoping that everyone could feel like I did upon receiving the news, experience how I felt about this long-awaited inclusion of the Negro Leagues. It was almost there, imminent, but I was still nervous because I wasn’t sure how well it would be received by the gaming community. As can be seen, the reaction was absolutely explosive. I am overwhelmed and very pleased by the tremendous positive response we have received to this announcement regarding the inclusion of the Negro Leagues in MLB The Show 23.
