AB, nephew of Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej alias Eddy Hiariej has been named a suspect in a defamation case. Wamenkumham Eddy Hiariej is none other than the person who reported his nephew.
AB’s designation as a suspect was announced by the Director of Cyber Crime Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Adi Vivid Agustiadi, Monday (27/3).
According to him, AB’s legal status was raised as a suspect after Polri investigators carried out a case in this case.
“We have awarded the degree and we have raised the status of the accused to the reported person,” Adi said as quoted by Suara.com.

As is well known, Eddy Hiariej initially reported his nephew AB to Polda Metro Jaya on November 10, 2022. However, on December 1, 2022, he shifted his report from Polda Metro Jaya to the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim).
In his report, Eddy Hiariej charged AB with Article 45 Paragraph 3 in conjunction with Article 27 Paragraph 3 and/or Article 51 Paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 35 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE) and/or Article 310 of the Criminal Code, and/or Article 311 of the Criminal Code.
It was later revealed that AB was Eddy Hiariej’s nephew who allegedly sold his name as Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights to ‘blackmail’ people.
