Counter-Strike has one of the most unique stories in video game history, and its place as the quintessential tactical shooter has allowed it to stand up to all kinds of fads that come and go. The recent announcement of a new installment drove fans crazy to the point that some think it will immediately bring down the title that tried to usurp its throne.

Shroud ignites controversy by assuring that Counter-Strike 2 will end VALORANT
The Counter-Strike 2 announcement after a wave of rumors and teases has been one of the biggest surprises of the year and the community is very excited. Valve has been committed to taking tactical FPS to a new level by making necessary adjustments and listening to fan feedback over many years. In the midst of all the praise, an expression from Michael Grzesiek, better known in the esports scene and YouTube as “Shroud”, came out when he saw the first trailers for the game.
During a stream, Shroud noted that Counter-Strike 2 would give those who couldn’t in VALORANT, Riot Games’ tactical shooter, a chance to turn pro, but later released a (supposedly joking) statement telling a friend ” leave VALORANT. It’s over now, it’s going to f***.”

The declaration did not take long to generate controversy on 2 fronts. The first by the VALORANT community since it is known that Shroud is part of their scene and in a certain sense they felt betrayed. Second, by the hardcore Counter-Strike fans who complained that Valve gave access to the Beta to a VALORANT player like him and not to members of the community who have been playing for years and a long time.
In the end, the hype for Counter-Strike 2 is sky high, the fans are excited and the duel in the world of tactical shooters will undoubtedly be incredible.
