MOSCOW – Senator United States of America (US) Lindsey Graham urges Washington’s military to shoot down fighter jet Russia in retaliation for the downing of an MQ-9 Reaper drone over the Black Sea. Moscow responded quickly to this call.
Russia said through its ambassador in Washington that Senator Graham had provoked a “dangerous escalation” between the two countries.
Russia’s ambassador in Washington, Anatoly Antonov, said the senator’s call went far beyond common sense and risked all-out war between the world’s two biggest nuclear powers.
“This is by no means the first attempt by a well-known member of Parliament to provoke a dangerous escalation in US-Russia relations,” Antonov said, Thursday (16/3/2023).
“A year ago he urged our citizens to carry out an assassination attempt on the Russian president,” he said.
“Does Senator Graham really believe that a direct military clash with Russia is in the interests of the (US) electorate who entrust their lives and livelihoods?”
“Is the Capitol willing to put American citizens and the international community at risk of full-scale nuclear war? Give us some answers, Honorable Senator!” added Antonov, as quoted by Russia Today.
Graham appeared on Fox News on Wednesday to discuss the downing of a US MQ-9 Reaper drone near Crimea, in the Black Sea, on Tuesday morning.
He said the US should shoot down the Russian fighter jet in retaliation after an American MQ-9 Reaper drone was hit and brought down by a Su-27 fighter jet over the Black Sea.
