BEIJING – Military officer China denounce United States of America (US) in a public statement issued this week. It comes after a patrol and reconnaissance aircraft operated by the US Navy flew over the Taiwan Strait earlier this week.
The aircraft is a Boeing P-8A Poseidon spy plane developed for maritime surveillance, search and rescue missions, and anti-submarine warfare. The US 7th Fleet said in a statement the aircraft was flying over the waterway in international airspace.
However, Chinese authorities claimed the warplane deliberately disturbed the regional situation and endangered peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, in a statement published on a government website affiliated with the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
Condemning the presence of US warplanes over the Taiwan Strait and charging that the US is openly exaggerating this, the Chinese military also released a statement by Army Senior Colonel Shi Yi, spokesman for China’s PLA Eastern Theater Command, in response to Poseidon’s appearance.

“The PLA’s Eastern Theater Command has organized forces to track and monitor the US aircraft across the track, and control everything,” Shi Yi said, in a statement issued by the Chinese military.
“PLA’s Eastern Theater Command forces remain vigilant at all times to resolutely safeguard China’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the statement continued.
Meanwhile the US Navy’s 7th Fleet in its own statement about Monday’s flight over the Taiwan Strait said the lawful transit demonstrated US commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific.
“The United States will continue to fly, sail and operate anywhere international law allows, including within the Taiwan Strait,” the US Navy said.
