Artificial intelligence is currently on everyone’s lips, and there are many companies and organizations that seek to use it to optimize workspaces in terms of quality and efficiency. Ubisoft did not want to be left behind, so it announced a Artificial Intelligence with which they hope to “save time” in the production of video games.
The AI is called Ghostwriter, and it is designed to optimize the time of writing scripts, in particular of the barks, a name specifically given to the dialogues of the NPCs that circulate around the main character, and that interact according to the actions that the player performs near them. . Thanks to this new technology implemented in the narrative, the writers will have support for this area that is more important than it seems, since it helps the player to immerse themselves in the world that is created and gives it a greater reality.
The tool created by the Ubisoft Laforge team under the idea of Ben Swanson works in conjunction with the game writing team and allows you to develop more varied dialogues of NPC’s in less time: Ghostwriter starts his work with phrases that are activated by specific actions for later create variations that change depending on the context of the game. These variations have a change in the words used in the dialogue and can be accepted, corrected or rejected. The AI learns from these fixes and more accurately refines and improves future barks.

Despite the fact that Artificial Intelligences have been present in the technological industries for some time, working with them in the script area is a challenge for Ubisoft, considering that Ghostwriter will have to work in parallel with the script teams and will have to adapt to the changes. different worlds with which the video game company works, although for the moment it promises good results.
