NCSOFT, a South Korean company, was one of the protagonists of GDC 2023 presenting Project M, an action-adventure video game created on Unreal Engine 5. At first glance, the project looks good, with graphics and audio consistent with what is expected. expected of the current generation, however, the perception changed when NCSOFT revealed its ace up its sleeve.

The company revealed that what was seen in the Project M trailer is the product, in part, of its artificial intelligence tools. First, NCSOFT reported that the dialogues and expressions of this digital human that we see in the video were created by an AI that converts the text into dubbing and is capable of not only ensuring the fluency and correct pronunciation of the words, it can also add some type of of accent.
On the other hand, the facial expressions and part of the movements of this character is the product of another AI tool that works together with the one mentioned above so that the face and mouth have the movement according to what the script indicates, including gestures that reflect emotions.
Although there are no more details or release date for Project M, NCSOFT assured that it is in development for consoles and PC and that not everything is AI in its creative process since they also work with traditional tools such as motion capture, scans and everything that, for now, it cannot be replaced by software.
