CD Projekt Red had announced in October 2022 a series of games for The Witcher under processing. Not only the developer is working to the next chapter that will kick off a new trilogybut also to a remake of the original game in collaboration with Fool’s Theorya newly established third-party firm led by ex-Developers of the series. Furthermore, The Molasses Flood is currently working on a game called Project Sirius, which has been described as an innovative take on The Witcher universe who will tell an unforgettable story for existing fans of the saga and for new audiences.
According to a announcement regulatory published earlier this week, CD Projekt Red it seems restarted Project Sirius development. Since the company stands investing more money in the project in its early stages and speaking of its commercial potential, one could assume that the project is in the process of expansionalthough the company has not yet provided specific details about what this entails to the development of the title. the value of expenses incurred was PLN 33.4 million ($7.6 million) in 2022 and PLN 9.5 million ($2.2 million) in the first two months of 2023. According to the announcement:
the company has established an impairment allowance with respect to expenses incurred as part of the development work related to Project Sirius and accordingly the expenses will be a detriment to the financial results for the first quarter of 2023. The decision is based on the results assessing the scope and commercial potential of the original Project Sirius concept and ongoing work to formulate a new framework for this project.
