They say that third parties are never good. Yes, we break the stigma of the sequels, because it has already been more than proven that the second parts can be good… and even better than the originals. This is the case with The Dark Knight… but not with the last part of the trilogy.
Don’t get us wrong. The Dark Knight Rises (2012) is a great movie, but It doesn’t live up to its masterful predecessor. What’s more, some fans prefer Batman Begins.
The three tapes belong to the filmography of Christopher Nolan, the renowned director of films such as Tenet, Dunkirk or Interstellar, who is part of the select group of best directors in the industry today.

The end of a great trilogy
In The Nolan Variations (by Tom Shone), Christopher Nolan talks about The Dark Knight: The Legend Rises, the third film in the trilogy released in 2012.
After the remarkable Batman Begins (2005) and the excellent The Dark Knight (2008), Nolan was looking for the perfect closure for his particular Batman saga. But, how to offer a product at the height?
The expectations were very high after the masterpiece The Dark Knight, so Nolan was clear that the third film was going to be below. The only solution was to change the tone of the tape.
Can you guess which movie inspired Nolan for The Legend Reborn? Neither more nor less than Rocky III, third installment of the boxing sagadirected by Sylvester Stallone in 1982.
”Basically, there are no good third sequels. Rocky III, maybe. But they are very difficult. So my instinct was to change gender. The first is an origin story. The second is a very Heat-like crime drama, and the third, we needed to expand it further, because you can’t go back.”
The third Batman movie needed to follow the example of Rocky III. That is, to differentiate from the first two, looking for a new touch to not seem like a “more and worse” than seen four years earlier.
So, Nolan opted for the natural disaster genre. It’s not that The Legend Reborn is an Independence Day or 2012 apocalyptic film, but it does have references to that type of cinema.
”So you have to change gender. We chose the historical epic, the disaster movie, ”The Flaming Colossus Meets Doctor Zhivago”.

Curious definition of The Dark Knight: The legend is reborn, right? It was a good choice, as the film grossed over $1 billion worldwide, making it a huge success to close out Nolan’s trilogy.
Do you think Rocky III is a good movie? And The Dark Knight: The Legend Rises? We keep staying with The dark knightby Christopher Nolan, but there is no denying that it is a good Batman movie.
