Next Monday morning, Bendran Fraser could become the latest star to receive the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in The Whale.
After his great return to the big screen, the actor surprised with the movie by Darren Aronofsky and the brilliant performance he signed.
Brendan Fraser has spent years maintaining a distant relationship with Hollywood, after the Mecca of Cinema did not exactly behave well with him. If he wins the Oscar, the actor could remove a thorn that has accompanied him for years. If he doesn’t win it, his return is already more than assured with the great role he has played.
On the occasion of the Oscars, Brendan Fraser is having many interviews, like the one he recently had with The Hollywood Reporter’s podcast, Awards Chatter. There, a curious complaint from parents about George of the junglehis 1997 film, has come to light.
Brendam Fraser and George of the Jungle’s tendency to crash into trees
The actor recalled his role in the blockbuster movie from his first big Hollywood stint and highlighted complaints from some parents about the negative influence of one of George’s most frequent tendencies: leaning against trees while swinging.
“For a while, parents would stop me on the street and say, ‘Oh man, I really liked George of the Jungle, it was a great movie. But I have one complaint, my son got eight points for running into a tree because That was what George did.'”
George of the Jungle was a kind of parody of tarzan in which his titular character had a significant handicap when he ran through the jungle jumping from liana to liana through the trees: he used to end up crashing against the trunks of the trees.
However, as they say in the movie itself: the people in George of the Jungle don’t die, they just do a lot of damage. Unfortunately, it’s a rule that doesn’t apply to the real world.
It is not known how many children left their snouts in the trees after seeing George of the Jungle, but it is a curious anecdote from one of Brendan Fraser’s first great roles. He now has to be expectant to know if he works with Darren Aronofsky he gives him an Oscar to finish signing his great comeback.
