The I Love The World team, an audiovisual production company from Tenerife, says goodbye to its solidarity project, which began on the Canary Island of La Palma, after the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano, in September 2021. The company went to La Palma to document the eruption and unintentionally found itself involved in the natural disaster where, they realized the need for the evacuated residents and lacking information, to know the updated status of their properties due to the rapid and unstoppable advance of the lava .
Book production and editing
Now the project has been placed in the hands of the Tierra Bonita Association. The production company has donated 145,762 euros to the La Palma NGO that comes from the charity sale of her book: Las otras historias del volcán, which includes impressive photographs, also donated by I Love The World, and more than 80 testimonies told in first person by the affected by the volcano. It should be noted that the production and editing of the book has been borne by the production company itself.
specimens sold
More than 12,000 copies have already been sold and there is still a stock of 3,500, with a potential value of up to 179,400 euros. But, although now its sale and commercialization is in the hands of the NGO, all the benefits obtained, and to be obtained, continue to be destined to the moral and socioeconomic recovery of the population destroyed by the devastating action of the volcano.
Testimonials from those affected
During the three months that the eruption lasted, the I Love The World team witnessed firsthand the horror experienced by the families of La Palma. At the end of the eruption they made the decision to publish a book that collected these testimonies in the first person and that also had its own voice. This is how The Other Volcano Stories was born. The book, as a therapy, has served for I Love The World to tell its own experience, but also to give a voice to all those people who wanted to tell their own story.
Future prospects and acknowledgments
All these solidarity actions include support of a legal nature and information to public opinion through the website Elvalledeariadne.com, a non-profit newspaper created in 2022 by Tierra Bonita.
Now Tierra Bonita continues to fight for the interests of all the victims through different actions.
So far, 88 of the books that have been sold have been in German and the English edition will soon be released.
I Love the World thanks all the people, companies and institutions that have participated in the purchase of the book and continue to encourage the continued acquisition of these supportive books.
