BANGKOK – The Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok once again held the Indonesian Ambassador Greetings activity, one of the program activities to establish public communication with the Indonesian people to provide up-to-date and useful information needed by the Indonesian people.
Through a webinar format on March 18, 2023, the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok raised the theme “Efforts to Prevent and Handle Cases of Indonesian Victims of TIP on the Thai Border”.
This is an effort to actively respond to the rampant cases of online scam operations, which are a form of the Criminal Act of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) in the Southeast Asian region.
The Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok recorded a spike in TIP cases in 2022, totaling 92 cases of Indonesian citizens, a significant increase compared to the two cases in the previous year.
The Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok also recorded data that the majority of Indonesian TIP victims came from West Kalimantan Province.
West Kalimantan is considered to be one of the exit point locations for those who will depart for the destination country.
In organizing the webinar, the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok collaborated with the Directorate of Protection of Indonesian Citizens at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tanjungpura University, Pontianak, West Kalimantan, and collaborated with students, lecturers and local government officials in South Kalimantan.
Therefore, the event which was held in a hybrid manner was attended by more than 300 online participants, namely Indonesian citizens who were in Thailand and in Indonesia and more than 50 participants who attended in person.
In his opening remarks, the Indonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand and UNESCAP, Rachmat Budiman stated several things, namely the mission of the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok to always communicate actively and provide the best service to all Indonesian citizens.
