Shazam recently landed in theaters! The fury of the gods, a movie that, although it has been liked by its fans, it has not had all the expected box office repercussions, mainly due to the little interest shown by many viewers knowing that all the DC Extended Universe will suffer a restart by Peter Safran and James Gunn.
Although the humorous tone of the film has been compared to the Deadpool saga, in reality the development of Shazam! The Fury of the Gods has more similarities with another successful Marvel movie: Logan.
Eye! From this point there will be SPOILERS for Shazam! The fury of the godsso if you have not seen the film we advise you not to continue reading.
What do the sequels to Shazam! and Logan
As detailed by Screen Rant, Shazam! The fury of the gods had certain parallels with Logan, the Marvel movie in which Hugh Jackman closed the Wolverine story (although he will resume the role of the mutant in the future Deadpool 3).
Both films feature a reluctant hero trying to protect someone he cared about a lot. Meanwhile, the heroes were in constant danger of losing their powers until, in the end of both feature films, their protagonists do the unthinkable and sacrifice themselves to protect their loved ones.
However, Shazam’s sacrifice is short-lived, as the film’s titular hero was resurrected almost immediately and there was barely time to process what seemed to be the most dramatic moment on the tape.
As the medium details, they should have taken more risks with Shazam! The fury of the gods and making its protagonist die like a hero, especially considering that not all the main characters will be there in the reboot of the DC Extended Universe.
Even though he’s still alive, The future of Shazam remains uncertain in the face of the next projects of DC Studiosso we will have to wait for them to confirm which other films will be part of their Chapter One and, what interests us most, which actors from the previous EUDC will continue to be active.
