Singing and dancing remembering BTS is now possible with the new BTS set from LEGO Ideas
What happened to the famous South Korean bad boy music group? The LEGO Group now pays tribute to the K-pop group that triumphed in the United States in 2013. A tribute to the world pop icons BTS, through the set LEGO Ideas BTS Dynamitedesigned by a LEGO fan, featuring the seven-piece band in the video for their global hit “Dynamite”, which when released in August 2020 reached over 100 million views in less than a day and 1 billion hits in just eight months, and even put the band at number one in the US with their first single.
Sing and sing all night while you build this LEGO set of 749 pieces and discover authentically recreated details that reflect scenes from the iconic music video. Now music lovers and fans of the group can combine home karaoke sessions with brick building.
The new set represents the band’s creative forms of expression and includes the exciting donut shop, ice cream truck and record store so characteristic of the video. Each building in the set is fully removable, allowing for individual play and experiences.
But the set wouldn’t be complete without the world’s biggest South Korean boy band, now also available as a LEGO minifigure for the first time. The seven band member minifigures – RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook – are ready to sing and dance in sync on the LEGO stages..
This LEGO Ideas set is the work of friends and LEGO fans Josh, 20, from Indiana, and Jacob, 21, from New York. Combining their love for BTS and their passion for building with LEGO, they worked together to bring this set to life.
Jacob tells us about the process:
Josh did the construction and design work and as a huge BTS fan I told him what had to be there, what details were most important. It was a very fun process.
Josh went on to say:
Jacob had the knowledge of BTS, and was able to direct my build in the right way. I watched the music video over and over again and tried to capture its essence in LEGO bricks. It was crazy when the project went viral on the internet overnight.
Federico Begher, Head of the LEGO Product Grouphas spoken about the development of the set:
When we saw how colorful Josh and Jacob’s design was, we knew it would be a hit and this was proven by how quickly they reached 10,000 views in the LEGO Ideas voting. BTS fans were very supportive of the design, so it was important that we stay as true to the original creation as possible. The set highlights creativity, passion, and most importantly, fun! We can’t wait to see the fans build it and put it on display.
