Autostrada per l’Italia opens the first stretch of the A4 to traffic with a “dynamic” fourth lane between Cormano and Viale Certosa. What is it about?

Rome, 28 March 2023 – In line with the timetable for the last phase of construction of the dynamic fourth lane in A4 between Viale Certosa and Sesto San Giovanni, starting from the morning of Wednesday 29 March, Autostrade per l’Italia will make a first section available to traffic, between junction of Cormano and the junction of viale Certosa in the direction of Turinalready equipped with the new configuration.
The novelty will affect the whole 10 km on the A4 and will allow the emergency lane to be dedicated to the vehicular flow, when traffic conditions require it, provided that it is not affected by events or the transit of emergency vehicles.
The road section of the A4 between Cormano and Viale Certosa will be the first asset in Italy to be equipped with a dynamic management system in a 4-lane contextcharacterized by a highly technological system AID (Automatic Incident Detection) capable of detecting the conditions of the motorway platform and appropriately signaling to the user the opening or closing status of the emergency lane.
