Marcelo Ebrard, Foreign Minister of Mexico, toured the Monterrey land where the Tesla headquarters will be installed in Mexico. He specified that Elon Musk made the commitment with López Obrador that the factory will be the one that consumes the least water in the world.
Accompanied by the state governor, Samuel García Sepúlveda, and executives of the assembly company, including Anthony O’Donovan, who will be the director of the plant, Ebrard participated in a meeting where details of the project were disclosed.
He explained that President López Obrador asked him, in coordination with the governor and the Tesla team, to find out where the plant will be. “That will consume less water than all the plants in the world in the automotive industry.”
He pointed out that “this is an effort that Elon Musk agreed with President López Obrador. And that is what we are here for today.” Anthony O’Donovan said that “It’s great to be here with the team, it’s great that Tesla is investing in Monterrey and Mexico, It is a great pleasure for us to work with you.”
At the meeting, Governor García Sepúlveda stressed that they continue to work in coordination with the Federation before the arrival of the American company, one of the most important investments in the country.
According to a statement from the state government, the governor pointed out “we are working together, to thank the President, the chancellor, all the authorities and especially to Tesla for the confidence of coming to settle here in Santa Catarina, Nuevo León“.
