Tennis star Arantxa Rus has booked her first tournament victory of this year in Colombia. Rus won the Anapoima ITF tournament. The 32-year-old from Westland defeated Sinja Kraus from Austria in the final in three sets: 6-3 6-7 (3) 6-2.
Rus was seeded first in the clay tournament in Colombia, which is part of the second tennis level. The tennis star recently managed to qualify for the Indian Wells masters tournament. However, Rus lost in the first round.
The number 130 in the world also reached the final of an ITF tournament in the United States a few weeks ago, but she then opted out of the final battle. At the end of last year, Rus won the ITF tournament of Sharm-el-Sheikh in Egypt.
Rus has not made himself available for the upcoming games of the Dutch team in the Billie Jean King Cup, next month in Turkey. She wants to play tournaments herself to collect points for the world ranking.
