Tennis player Wesley Koolhof failed to win the Indian Wells doubles tournament with his British partner Neal Skupski. The world number 1 in doubles and Skupski lost 6-3 2-6 10-8 to India’s Rohan Bopanna and Australia’s Matthew Ebden in the final.
Bopanna, 43, is the oldest player ever to win the doubles title at the Indian Wells masters tournament. “This is really special. I’ve been coming here for many years and I’ve seen all those guys win this tournament. I’m very happy that I was able to take the win myself with Matt,” said Bopanna afterwards. It was the first success of this year for Bopanna and Ebden and the second title as a duo.
The 33-year-old Koolhof was in the final of the Indian Wells masters tournament for the first time. He has not yet won a tournament with Skupski this year. Last year, the two were successful seven times.
