The actor Taron Egerton is clear about his acting qualities and turns down an important role before it is offered to him.
The film No Time to Die (2021) is the last in which Daniel Craig plays James Bond, one of the most beloved characters in cinema. Therefore, now the role is free and highly valued because many actors want it. But when Taron Egerton was asked if he’d like to play him, he’s clear it’s not for him.
This has been revealed in a recent interview with The Telegraph, while promoting his new movie Tetris that can be seen on Apple TV +.
“You have to be consistently statuesque to be that guy. And that’s something I still strive for. I have always struggled with my weight.” Taron Egerton said.
“James Bond is a bit like being a brand ambassador as well as being an actor. And that could be a lot of fun in microcosm, but I’m sure I read that Bond producer Barbara Broccoli said it’s a 15-year commitment.
“I have never been part of the conversations. I don’t know Barbara Broccoli. They never asked about me. So I haven’t been one of the guys who are watching. I just don’t think I’m the right person for that. I believe there are much, much, much better candidates than me for that role. But, you know, she would be a very willing audience member. They are brilliant movies.”

Who will be the new James Bond?
Now that we know that Taron Egerton has no interest in being the best-known secret agent in cinema, the producers must choose the next candidate carefully. Among the top names that sound the most are Idris Elba, Henry Cavill and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. In fact, the latter could be the one finally chosen, although they have not confirmed it. Hopefully they will reveal that information soon and we can enjoy a new James Bond mission.
Meanwhile, Taron Egerton continues with his film career, as we can see him in Tetris, where they will tell us what they did to make the video game a worldwide success. But in addition, he has already filmed Carry-On, where a young TSA agent is blackmailed by a mysterious traveler into letting a dangerous package through security and onto a flight on Christmas Day. In the cast he will coincide with Jason Bateman, Sofia Carson, Logan Marshall-Green and Theo Rossi. All of them directed by Jaume Collet-Serra.
