President of Square Enix for ten years, from June 2013, Yosuke Matsuda will step aside to allow management to be reshaped to cope with changing market conditions, with the aim of “adopting constantly evolving technological innovations and maximizing creativity of the company”. Takashi Kiryu, born in 1975, has been with Square Enix since 2020 since he was appointed to the role of General Manager Corporate Planning Division. Over the years, he first became chairman of the board of the Chinese division of the company, and later director of Square Enix Holdings.
To become effective, the change at the top must be approved by the shareholders’ meeting and subsequently by the board of directors of the Japanese publisher.
