JAKARTA – Russia claims to have shot it down bom supplied GLSDB guided smart United States of America for Ukraine. The claim was submitted by the Russian Ministry of Defense on Tuesday (28/3/2023).

Russian Missile System Dropped GLSDB Bomb Specifications
The Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB) is a small diameter smart bomb launched from the ground. Quoting the Army Technology page, Wednesday (29/3/2023), this bomb was designed by Boeing and a Swedish company called Saab.
In its development, GLSDB combines the capabilities of the SDB I air-launch weapon and the M26 ground-based rocket motor. Designed with launch from ground artillery systems, this weapon will support the Army to engage targets in complex operating fields.
In its history, this bomb was launched for the first time in March 2015. Previously, Saab and Boeing entered into a cooperation agreement in August 2014 to develop GLSDB by integrating the Boeing GBU-39B SDB 1 bomb and the M26 rocket motor.
Prior to their introduction, they had also conducted a series of direct firing trials in Sweden.
Turning to the aspect of strength, this smart bomb offers a lethal level of attack, wide range, to high maneuverability. In addition, the bomb can also hit even hard-to-reach targets.
The GLSDB is 154 inches long, 9.5 inches in diameter, and weighs about 600 pounds. This bomb is also equipped with an inertial navigation system (INS)/GPS which provides guidance, navigation, and an attack position.
Then, they also present a carbon fiber warhead with 57.6kg of Insensitive Munition certified explosives. It doesn’t stop there, it is also equipped with an electronic safe or arm fuse system (ESAF) with two setting options that are useful for providing deep penetration and an accurate shooting range.
In terms of performance, GLSDB can reach a range of up to 150 km. This smart bomb can hit moving targets in all weather conditions, day or night.
